Participants will develop a conceptual understanding of the milling process with a focus on mill balance, critical control points, and milling different wheat classes. The course will be taught in English by instructors from Kansas State University and Henan University.
Course objective: Provide a greater knowledge of the milling process and controls that are influenced by the raw material or the milling system; understand how employees impact and control the process.
Course topics: Wheat classes and uses; wheat testing practices and methods; wheat cleaning and conditioning; overview of the milling process and associated equipment; flowsheet terminology; wheat and flour blending; practical exercises with the milling equipment.
Required skill level: Practical work experience in a flour mill.
Who should attend: Milling engineers, operation managers, production managers and shift managers.
Course minimum: 10 participants.
Accommodation: A block of rooms ranging in price from $50-$90 US/night has been reserved at the Zhengzhou Glory Grand Hotel in Zhengzhou, China.
Visa Support: Visa support will be provided by the Henan University of Technology.
Airport Transfers: May be arranged through the University at the cost of $30 one-way.
