- This toolkit was developed by the Iron Deficiency Project Advisory
Service (IDPAS) in close
collaboration with the Micronutrient Initiative (MI), the Flour
Fortification Initiative, (FFI) and the
International Association of Operative Millers (IAOM).
- Initial funds and technical resources were contributed by the
Micronutrient Initiative, the US Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention Foundation (USCDC) from a grant from Cargill Inc. and from
the International Nutrition Foundation.

- This PowerPoint presentation is Version 1 of a new resource intended
to help flour millers learn
about, plan for and implement flour fortification. It has limited
distribution and is solely for the purpose review and comment by
technical experts, millers and the specialists representing the main
sources of information. Please send comments and/or information on any
problems found in this Beta version as well as suggestions for revision
and expansion of future versions to the following email address: Millers.Fortification.Toolkit@inffoundation.org
- Following review and any necessary changes, The Flour Miller’s Tool Kit
on Fortification Version 1.0 will be produced for active distribution
on CD ROM and via the internet. Dissemination will be done in
collaboration with the International Association of Operative Millers
(IOAM) and other organizations.
- Updating of Version 1.0 with additional information, graphics,
illustrations, documents and other materials that may be useful for
millers in planning and carrying our flour fortification is already
being planned and those reviewing this version are encouraged to
suggest and to provide information they would like included on updates
or new versions of the Tool Kit.
- The Flour Miller’s Tool Kit on
Fortification Version 1.0 is scheduled for release in English
before 30 April 2006. Based on the level of interest and demand updated
and expanded version can be created and disseminated at intervals as
short as six months. Russian and Chinese language versions are currently
being negotiated.

It is arranged for easy access to various type of information useful for
different aspects of successfully setting up a mill for flour
fortification, producing a high quality product and for marketing
fortified flour.
- The “Table of Contents” and the
“Section Heading” pages show what each section contains. It should be
easy to skip to the toolkit sections that are most relevant to you.
