IAOM’s annual conference is the premier education event in the milling and grain process industries. Each year, approximately 30 professionals from the milling industry share their professional expertise and time in order to add to the profession and increase their visibility and credibility with their colleagues.
The IAOM Program Committee invites you to submit an application or make a recommendation for the Educational Program or for the Product Showcase at the 121st IAOM Conference and Expo in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Educational Program is divided into five different tracks: technical operations, employee management, product protection, specialty milling, and facility management. Presentations ideally last 30 minutes to allow for more variety and more topic-specific information to be provided.
Educational Presentation Tracks
The IAOM Conference format features presentations within the following five broad categories. For the 2017 Conference, IAOM will be seeking presenters to fill seven, 30-minute time slots for the four simultaneous tracks. The educational sessions will be held during the mornings on Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13. IAOM anticipates audiences of approximately 50-100 for each of the presentations.
Employee Management (EM) = Covers aspects of employee management (i.e. recruitment, retention, motivation, safety).
Facility Management (FM) = Covers aspects of operations related to facility design, construction, maintenance and equipment evaluation and acquisition.
Product Protection (PP) = Covers aspects of sanitation, food protection, food safety, finished product testing, storage and transportation.
Technical Operations (TO) = Covers aspects related to the technical aspects of raw product evaluation, testing, storage and processing.
Specialty Milling (SM) = Covers all aspects related to milling grains other than wheat.
Eligible products include new products and existing products that have new applications. The Product Showcase allows selected exhibiting companies to promote their products directly from their booths in the Expo hall. Those selected are given 10 minutes to discuss their product while showing the product, a slideshow presentation, or anything else they can show within their booth space. Presenters are given a microphone and riser, if needed. Deadline for applications is December 2, 2016.
Those selected will be notified by February 1, 2017.
Publication Selected educational programming and product showcase presenters agrees to submit a written version of their presentations to the IAOM for publication in the International Miller, as well as a PowerPoint or PDF presentation to be shown at the conference. Each speaker will sign a release allowing the IAOM to record and publish his/her presentation online. Further information and guidelines will be sent to selected presenters.
